Art is jack-hammering holes through the foundation for the beams to carry the store.  March 2008

One last look across the road at the store prior to getting ready for the move

The Store is ready to go.  You will notice the chimney has been taken down and 12’ of the garage has been torn down so the mover can get the beams in place.  Gary and Tony Schmitt brought their “cherry picker” to help Al take the chimney down.

Al Koenigsfeld and two of his high school students, Kyle Futrell and Levi Bond, and his son-in-law, Chris Fisher removed this section of the garage to prepare for the move.

Ready to Go—Ron Holland House moving, Forest City.

The Store is now raised 17” and is resting on the mover’s beams.  To be cautious, Art S. installed support jacks inside the store.  The day before the move, the store will be moved south onto the truck and up onto the road.  When you see it, it looks like its ready to go somewhere.

The little generator is connected to hydraulic jacks and lifted the store 1 inch at a time from side to side.  By the pressure on the jacks, the store was estimated to weigh 45 tons

12 ft. of the garage was torn off by Al Koenigsfeld, Chris Fisher, Kyle Futrell and Levi Bond.  The last two are Al’s high school students.  This had to be done to get the mover’s beams through

Art Schutz of Holland House moving was just amazing at running this machine.  He could throw chunks of cement 10 ft. with it.

Ernie Zellmer—a hard working house mover was always ready to do what operator, Art Schultz, needed.

The beam is sliding through under the store.  Every floor joist was shimmed to the beam.  There are beams that hold the chimney up.  It took awhile to drill through the chimney base.  They thought is was filled with cement but it turned out to be frozen dirt.
